Electromagnetic Interference in RIS-Aided Communications

چکیده

The prospects of using a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) to aid wireless communication systems have recently received much attention. Among the different use cases, most popular one is where each element RIS scatters incoming signal with controllable phase-shift, without increasing its power. In prior literature, this setup has been analyzed by neglecting electromagnetic interference, consisting inevitable waves from external sources. letter, we provide physically meaningful model for interference that can be used as baseline when evaluating RIS-aided communications. show non-negligible impact on performance, especially size grows large. When direct link present (though relatively weak gain), even reduce performance. Importantly, it turns out SNR quadratically number elements only spatial correlation matrix asymptotically orthogonal effective channel (including phase-shifts) towards intended receiver. Otherwise, increases linearly.

Electromagnetic waves a new tool for cellular communications

Distant cells can communicate with each other in a variety of ways. Electrical and chemical mechanisms are two known mechanisms for the establishment of intercellular connections. In recent years, research has shown that many cells influence each other's behavior by sending electromagnetic waves together. The existence of such connections can justify many unknown cellular behaviors. The article...

Channel Aided Interference Alignment

Interference alignment (IA) is a transmission strategy that attempts to exploit all degrees of freedom available at the transmitter or at the receiver in a multiuser channel. This paper proposes a new scheme named channel aided interference alignment. It makes use of the channel structure beside the linear interference alignment schemes to achieve the optimum degrees of freedom in a K user inte...
